Paleo diet was found by Ph.D Loren Cordain and it is based on research on the possible feeding of our ancestors from the Paleolithic period.
Although the first association on this diet is lots of meat – that does not mean you should eat only raw meat and carrots, but avoiding grains, sugar and various products can do wonders. The concept of the Paleo diet is based on the fact that grains were not part of the prehistoric human diet, and that have been introduced in the menu in time of agricultural revolution 10,000 years ago.
In the past 200 years the industrial revolution significantly changed our diet and harmfulness of artificial additives that extend the shelf life of the products taken into consideration. All these changes significantly harm our health and are main culprit for disease of modern civilization, including obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
Basic idea of Paleo diet is that we should eat the way we did tens of thousands of years ago, before the advent of agriculture and long before industrialization. Paleo diet is quite popular with a number of world stars, just to mention Angelina Jolie, Jenifer Aniston, Miley Cyrus, and Jessica Biel.
Here are some basic rules of Paleo diet: avoiding smoked meat, sugar, salt, grain products (bread, corn, wheat, rice, pasta), legumes, dairy products, yeast, coffee and alcohol.
Potatoes, soybeans and corn are specifically prohibited because they are now genetically and nutritionally modified.
Meat (including seafood) and eggs are the most important components of Paleo diet. All vegetables are allowed except beans, legumes and potatoes and mushrooms are also allowed.
Fruits, nuts and seeds (all except peanuts) can be consumed. Dried fruits are allowed only in small quantities. Permitted are only some oils – olive, flax seed and canola oil.
It is recommended to eat quality food, remove everything that is processed or arrive in a box.
Eggs, all kinds of meat, including seafood, vegetables, mainly tomatoes, peppers, onion, cucumber, zucchini, eggplant, chard, cabbage, carrots, mushrooms …, fruit, without exception, about 150 g of honey and dried fruit per week, olive oil, of beverages: water, tea, and occasionally unsweetened juice.
Sugar, cereals, potatoes, dairy products, processed meat (salami, sausages, pâtés…), chocolate, products made from corn and soy flour, mayonnaise, salt, yeast, vinegar ( recommended is use of lemon juice for salad).
Paleo diet – for example a one-day menu
Breakfast: Omelet with spinach and mushrooms,
Snack: A handful of berries,
Lunch: Grilled trout, large mixed salad with dressing of lemon juice and olive oil,
Snack: Raw carrots and apples,
Dinner: Grilled chicken, cooked broccoli, salad with tomato,
Dessert: fried walnuts and apples.

If a person really adheres to the Paleo diet, this can be a very effective way of losing weight fast. However, adhering to this diet will not be easy, especially at first, when we need to give up all the foods that are very tasty for most of us. Therefore, some symptoms may occur in the form of fatigue, headaches and the need for a particular food. These problems disappear after a few weeks and from that moment on the Paleo diet is very easy to most people, because it is essentially a diet in which there is no starvation.
